At Outdoor Family Photography, I’m lucky enough to have some families return year after year for outdoor photoshoots. It gives such a great chance to reconnect and find new locations for beautiful memories.

My time with Jeff, Jamie, and their two adorable kids at Dalton Farms was nothing short of magical. This enchanting locale, nestled in the heart of Swedesboro, New Jersey, provided the perfect sun-drenched backdrop for capturing the essence of this lively family.

Why I Love This New Jersey Family Photo Location

Dalton Farms: A Burst of Sunflowers and Charm

Dalton Farms is renowned for its vibrant sunflower fields, which bloom into a spectacular sea of yellow each year. 

This setting is not just a feast for the eyes but also a fantastic playground for kids and adults alike. 

The farm ambiance, complete with rustic elements and playgrounds, brings out the most genuine smiles and playful moments, making it an ideal setting for family photography.

Family and Fun Under the Sun

Jeff and Jamie, along with their kids, truly shone throughout the day. Dressed in casual, comfortable outfits, they explored the farm, played hide and seek among the sunflowers, and shared laughs on the swings.

The joy of these simple pleasures was evident in every photo, showcasing their strong family bond.

What makes Dalton Farms a photographer’s dream is the way the natural light filters through the sunflowers, casting golden hues that are perfect for photography. Backyard Wedding Photography With Pat & Christina In Cranford, New Jersey

Oh what a wonderful moment this was last summer with Pat and Christina, celebrating their beautiful wedding. It was a small and intimate backyard event surrounded by friends and family. 

Pat, Christina, and their daughter Lucy shone through with this event, bringing the love of a family unit meant to be together forever.

Why I Loved This Wedding Photography

A New Jersey Wedding Outdoor Setting

Weddings are beautiful occasions, no matter what. Whether held indoors or outdoors, they offer some of the most special and precious moments you can ever have as a photographer. 

This was a summer wedding in the wonderful August sunshine. It was warm but not too hot; guests rolled up their sleeves and embraced the rays shining through from all different angles. 

The families worked hard to create a true wedding setting, with flower arrangements, tents, and music that perfectly complemented the scene.

Family and Friends Everywhere

Pat and Christina had about 50 guests in their backyard wedding, family and friends of all different ages. The guests ranged from grandparents to babies, something that only weddings can really provide. 

These multigenerational events are so unique for a photographer because they give one of the few chances to see people of all ages interact, smile, play, dance, and more.

For this wedding, with a huge extended family seeing each other for the first time in many years and that came through over hours of laughter, reminiscing, dancing, and hugging.

Happiness In Every Photograph

It’s nearly impossible to recreate the pure joy we see in wedding photography. From the moment of guests first arrive and seeing each other, to the bride walking down the aisle, to the ceremony itself, and of course the party afterward, it’s just hours and hours of happiness. 

This comes out in this wedding photography more than most. 

And one unique aspect of this wedding was that Pat and Christina were joined by their daughter, sweet Lucy. Having a child witness this connection and love, surrounded by friends and family was just so special and heartwarming.

Family Photography At Island Beach State Park Cove In Ocean County, New Jersey

Finding quiet beach spots for family photography during the summer can be tough in New Jersey. Places get crowded, parking fills up, and there can seem to be endless lines everywhere.

But there is a great New Jersey shore spot that I love for all seasons. It is perfect for family and couple photography and has an absolutely gorgeous background and layout.

Island Beach State Park in Ocean County, New Jersey is one of the state’s true gems, just a bit off the beaten path, but as scenic as you’ll find anywhere in the area.

Why I Love This Location For Family Photography

Quiet And Secluded Beaches

In New Jersey, finding quiet beaches can be a real struggle during the summer. They get overcrowded and having a family photography session at any of the popular ones is next to impossible. There are just too many other people in the background. 

At Island Beach State Park, that becomes much less of a concern. Tucked away south of Seaside Heights, the long track of island land is out of the way from the bigger crowds, and comparatively, isn’t nearly the summer destination of many other popular New Jersey beach towns.

Sloping Dunes

One of the other unique features of Island Beach State Park is that longer walk it takes to get to the main beach area. This is because you will enter through a dune area that ends up making for the perfect way to start and finish family photography sessions.

The Dunes are protected, so they don’t have total access, but they still end up being one of the more unique backdrops around. And kids love playing and tumbling down the accessible sections. 

Beach Campfires Are Allowed

This is one of the most exciting and, frankly, rare aspects of Island Beach State Park. As of this writing, beach fires were allowed on site and families can make one to enjoy during time in the park.

My own family has done this many times through the years, spending a day at the beach with fire going to warm up after a dip in the water. This family photography session, did not have one, but this option makes the location different than almost anywhere else in the state.

Sunset and Sunrise Options

There is an entrance fee for Island Beach State Park is currently $10 per car for NJ residents. It allows for parking anywhere along the miles and miles of beach access. The gates are open for visitors into the night which means there’s no rush to leave the park even when a family photography session has ended.

The Sullivan Family chose Island Beach State Park for their yearly family photography session. I’ve seen this family grow through the years, and this year was one of my favorites.

They came all the way from Pennslyvania just to enjoy this New Jersey location because they knew the children could run free on the beach while stopping for more playful moments. It allowed for moments with everyone in the family, apart and together.

I can’t wait for even more family photoshoots here.

Fall Family Photo Shoot At Fisherman’s Cove In Manasquan, New Jersey

Is your family looking for a quiet and serene, scenic beach vibe for your next New Jersey family photoshoot in Monmouth County, New Jersey?

Fisherman’s Cove in Manasquan is a New Jersey gem that offers everything you need for your family photography. Tucked between the New Jersey shore, the Point Pleasant inlet, and the Manasquan River, this has become one of my favorite locations.

Why I Love This Location For Family Photography

A Little Bit Of Everything

Fisherman’s Cove in Manasquan, New Jersey has a little bit of everything for a family photography session. For starters, the small sandy beach up against the river makes for the perfect spot to have kids run around, explore, and get comfortable with a little play. Because it is against the Manasquan River, the water is more gentle and calm while also giving off the Jersey Shore feel.

Soft Sand And Quiet Beach

The sand is soft, making for a beach-like experience without dealing with the crowds the Jersey Shore can bring. 

Plus, the backdrop for this family photoshoot is serene water, and bright sky with Point Pleasant in the background as well.

Winding Paths

But the true allure of Fisherman’s Cove, and why I really love it for outdoor family photography is that in addition to the beach, there are small winding paths surrounded by high beach grasses that give off such a balance of color and beauty.

In the fall, these grasses and reeds bring out the autumn colors making it fantastic for that season. During the summer, it turns green for a vibrant mix of forest and beach. The paths are sandy, but the background radiates nature.

Quiet During All Seasons

And best of all, Fisherman’s Cove is quiet during most seasons, even the summer. Some families walk dogs there making it a great spot for family photoshoots with pets.

Unlike the Jersey Shore beaches which discourage dogs during the height of the summer, this spot in Manasquan is very pet-friendly.

The Rios family chose Fisherman’s Cove because they wanted a fall-themed photoshoot that would also allow the kids to run and play. It worked out perfectly. 

You can see their love for each other in every photo. Whether they’re running on the paths, playing in the sand, frolicking with their dog, or just being silly, Fisherman’s Cove allows for all of it. 

This is such a great spot for outdoor family photo sessions.
